A Garden Party Fundraiser

Spring for the Garden to raise funds for the Healing Garden By Jillian Chandler

Family Tree Healing Garden

The community is invited to a wonderful fundraising event for Bonner General Health’s Healing Garden. A garden party fundraiser, Spring for the Garden is scheduled for Saturday, May 28, from noon to 3pm, at Bonner General Health's Healing Garden.

“The Healing Garden is open and available to everyone in our community as a retreat for solace, and remembrance of those who have passed,” shares Aurora Clarke, volunteer coordinator with Bonner General Health & Foundation. “In order to keep it maintained and blooming, we need support from the Sandpoint community.”

As the Healing Garden is wholly maintained by volunteers and 100 percent financed from donations and fundraising events, proceeds from the Spring for the Garden fundraiser will go back into the maintenance of the garden’s chapel, tea house, fountain, children’s area, new plants and gardening materials. Aurora adds, “In the future, we hope these proceeds will help to fund gardening classes, school field trips, and decorative rock walls.”

There will be live music with Justin Landis and string music provided by students from the Suzuki String Academy, with refreshments graciously provided by Trinity. Activities for the children include rock painting, and a worm exploration area where kids can explore worms, build a worm habitat, and take worms home for their own garden at home.

There will be varieties of outdoor flowers available for purchase, as well as flower baskets donated by the Flower Farm available from the silent auction, where the community also has the opportunity to bid on floral and landscape pieces that will be painted and donated during the event by local artists.

As Aurora affirms, the garden is always looking for volunteers. “Mary Anne, our garden guru, is at the garden on Saturday mornings looking for help. We will soon have a garden chalk board for volunteers to go in and help at their leisure.”

Donations for the Healing Garden are accepted year-round onsite at the garden or through BonnerGeneral.org/volunteering-programs/the-healing-garden. For additional information, contact Aurora Clark at aurora.clarke@bonnergeneral.org.

Help keep the Healing Garden in full bloom, and don’t miss Spring for the Garden. There is no registration required, and all are invited to attend.
