5k/1k followed by community event on September 24 By Patty Hutchens, BGH Foundation
Save the date for the Bonner General Health Foundation’s Find Your Strength 5k and 1k fun run on September 24! This all-ability family fun run will include an after-party of fun for the entire family. Both races begin and end at Sandpoint City Beach, with the celebration and fun taking place on the lawn at Trinity at City Beach.
It will be a great opportunity to enjoy music, food, drinks, magicians, face painting and more. Children 8 and younger can participate for free, and registration is at a reduced price of $20 for ages 9 to 17. Adults are $45 if you register ahead of time but will cost $50 the day of the event.
The money raised from the Find Your Strength Community Fun Run will be used to help fund the purchase of an Exoskeleton—a state-of-the-art rehab technology that has transformed the lives of many who have lost the ability to walk due to stroke, injury, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy and more.
“Having this technology at Bonner General Health will not only benefit people in our community but those from throughout the Inland Northwest,” said Molly Behrens, Community Development Coordinator for Bonner General Health. “Currently, the closest facility with an Exoskeleton is in Wenatchee, Washington. With this addition to Bonner General Health, we would be the only hospital in Idaho with this technology.”
There are many levels of sponsorship available for this event, and the Bonner General Health Foundation Board is encouraging people of all levels and ages to come and enjoy time supporting the work that our Hometown Hospital is doing.
“This is not only going to be a great family event but is the kickoff of what we anticipate will grow into a 10k and half-marathon in the upcoming years,” said Behrens. “Our goal is to promote health and fitness in our community while also raising money to benefit our Hometown Hospital.”
You can register online at BonnerGeneral.org/find-your-strength/. T-shirts are guaranteed if you register prior to September 5.
