Heather Hanley is third generation in the Hanley family business, along with parents Jim and Sue Hanley. The Tin Roof and Bide & Burgeon in Spokane, Washington, and the recently opened Tin Roof Furniture Design Studio in Sandpoint, provide customers an inviting shopping experience without the stress.
“I really like solving problems, and I think helping our customers solve the problem of furnishing their homes is like putting together a beautiful puzzle. We want to get them just the right piece to suit their needs, their budget and their lifestyle,” affirms Heather.
“Delivering on just the right piece of furniture is really fulfilling. Helping people craft not only functional but beautiful environments to live in is a great service to provide.”
Providing home furnishings, lighting, rugs, art, décor, and design services, The Tin Roof offers a unique sense of style and aesthetic, paired with their incredible team of administrators, warehouse and sales teams. “Our sales associates are trained beyond furniture ‘features and benefits’ to think about total environments,” Heather shares.
“They help our clients envision the entire space beyond ‘I need a sofa’ to more of ‘how does this sofa fit into the overall plan for the space.’ We really address the clients’ needs beyond the functional aspect of the furniture.”
The Tin Roof Furniture Design Studio in Sandpoint is a small boutique showroom featuring their selection of top-quality furniture and home décor to reflect the Northwest lifestyle. “We opened the studio because one of our designers, Leslie Mitchell, moved to the area, and we thought it would be a good opportunity for her and The Tin Roof to have a presence in the beautiful town we all love so much and to better serve the Sandpoint community,” says Heather.
Open 11am to 5pm Tuesday through Friday, and by appointment, let their team of experts help define your style and assist in designing a custom room plan, with the ultimate result a space you and your family will truly love and enjoy for years to come.
Heather is always looking for inspiration and what might meet people’s needs for furniture, so customers will always find new, exciting pieces.
She acknowledges the strength of her team, who combine their individual strengths to work toward the common goal of ensuring satisfied customers who love their new furniture. This, along with “hard work and dedication, sprinkled with a little OCD and ADD,” Heather laughs, has ensured success in the Hanleys’ family of businesses.
Family is at the forefront for Heather, who shares that being afforded the opportunity to work with family every day is a unique and special gift. “My grandparents lived above our (Spokane) store, and my office is my grandfather’s bedroom. Now I bring our fourth generation to work with me every day—Helen Marie! She was born on December 1, 2022, and is named after my grandmother. She comes to work with me, so I get to work with my dad and my child. There are not many jobs where you get to do that, so that’s super special.”
Heather is grateful to be able to bring the families they serve together through furniture. “It’s not just a place to sit, or sleep, or dine, but somewhere they create memories that will last a lifetime,” she smiles.
